Toronto, Niagara Falls & Thousand Islands 3-Day Tour
Day 1: New York - Finger Lakes - Niagara Falls
At the appointed time we'll meet at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City, ready to visit three of the most famous places in Canada. A 3-day tour of Toronto, Niagara Falls, and the Thousand Islands awaits!
On a minibus, we'll travel north towards the Canadian border. Before arriving, we'll pass through the Delaware Gap to reach Watkins Glen State Park in the heart of the Finger Lakes region, where we'll make our first stop of the day. Here, we'll go on a hike through the area and take in the magnificent views of Watkins Glen Canyon, a place of exceptional natural beauty.
We'll then head to the American side of Niagara Falls, where we'll see Goat Island and its twin isle, as well as Lake Ontario. We'll even get to ride the famous Maid of the Mist boat, on which we'll sail very close to the falls and listen to the deafening roar of the water. An unforgettable experience!
Afterwards, we'll return to the mainland, and at sunset, we'll admire the falls under the moonlight. We'll end the day by taking you to your hotel on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls.
Please note: the Maid of the Mist boat only operates in spring and summer, and only if the weather conditions are favorable.
Day 2: Niagara Falls - Toronto - Gananoque
After breakfast at the hotel, we'll continue exploring Niagara Falls. On this second day, we'll head to the Terrapin Point overlook, which offers unique views of Horseshoe Falls, the most impressive of the three cascades.
The next visit of the day we'll be to the picturesque town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, where we'll get to know its main attractions. From here we'll head to Toronto, the financial capital of Canada. There, we'll go on a sightseeing tour to see HTO Park, the Brookfield Place complex, and the Distillery District, one of the city's most historic neighborhoods.
In the afternoon, we'll leave Toronto and travel east along Lake Ontario to the Thousand Islands area, specifically the small town of Gananoque, where we'll spend the night.
Day 3: Gananoque - Thousand Islands Cruise - New York City
After breakfast at the hotel, we'll cruise along the Thousand Islands, an area of the St. Lawrence River that was discovered 500 years ago by the French explorer Jacques Cartier. During the boat ride, we'll admire the luxurious celebrity homes built on the islands, such as Boldt Castle and Heart Island.
Finally, we'll return to New York, ending the 3-day tour in the late afternoon at the starting point.
Accommodation
This tour includes two nights' accommodation at the following hotels:
- Niagara Falls: Ramada by Wyndham Niagara Falls (4-star) or similar
- Gananoque: Comfort Inn & Suites Thousand Islands (2-star) or similar
Changes during the winter months
In winter, the river freezes and therefore the Thousand Islands cruise is nonoperational. Normally, in early April, the river thaws, and the cruises start operating again. However, some years are colder than others and it does not always thaw.
When this happens, we'll return to Niagara Falls after visiting Toronto for the second night. On the third day, we'll visit the Welland Canal before continuing on and you'll have free time for shopping before returning to New York.
